Mental Health Awareness Week is an essential annual event that brings attention to the importance of mental well-being. This (May 15th) aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote understanding of mental health issues. fischer believe that the significance of Mental Health Awareness Week is massive and in particular within the Construction industry and its important as a business to explore why prioritizing mental health is crucial for overall well-being. This is one of the reasons we are happy to announce that we are proud supporters of “Mates in Mind”

The UK market for wall plugs or rawl plugs has been stuck with plastic, coloured fixings for decades. We are one of the last countries in the northern hemisphere still relying on these little pieces of brightly coloured plastic to hang our shelves, fix up our shower screens and shower, hold our electrical installations, fix wiring, lights and basically hold anything we could ever hope for. Unfortunately, regularly in vain…
If you speak to any ‘trady’, 9/10 will say they are rubbish! They crack, they shrink over time, they spin in the hole, and they never really take a screw properly (with out completely crumbling at least) One thing for sure they definitely don’t work for long or take any weight to remove them.
So why does the UK continue to use these little plastic terrors? If you think we don’t, we can guarantee you they will be in 99% of your homes and 99% of Builders vans! We all know they don’t work but they are cheap…right?

The Moorhouse building in London is a 19 story building with a height of 100m designed specifically for Office use. The architect, Sir Norman Forster and was completed in 2004. This was the first building designed to fit into the new Cross Rail system with a full ventilation shaft underneath the building. The architect designed this building to specifically withstand any future tunneling underneath and around and had one of the deepest foundations of any building in London at the time, 57 meters.
The 19-storey, glass-clad office building situated at the junction of London Wall and Moorgate. The site occupies a pivotal point between the rectilinear grid of streets to the north and west with mainly post-war developments and the more varied street plan to the south and east with historical buildings and narrower streets.

Due to fischer’s close relationship with Carillion and NG Bailey M&E, they had the opportunity to work on the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital Smethwick after a two-year delay. It will be a new acute general hospital being built near Birmingham which will become the civic heart of the area and an obvious point of pride for the community.
The hospital was originally contracted by Carillion until they went into liquidation in January 2018 which caused major delays in the completion. As one of the world’s largest fixing manufacturers we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovative technology.
One of our latest innovations has been to develop a totally hazard free resin anchor – the first company to do so, something we are very proud of.
The product has amazing performance but as its name suggests it is also totally hazard free.
But what does that actually mean and what are the benefits for you if you choose to use it?
We thought we’d spell it out for you in these six simple points:
Our DuoLine range is already the most successful plug in the UK – something we’re obviously very proud of.
We’re constantly looking to innovate and develop new products that we know our customers will both like and benefit from using.
Our latest innovation in the Duoline range is the DuoXpand.
With this product you get a slightly different design and we’re also moving away from plasterboard and general fixings into heavy duty frame fixings. The DuoXpand adapts to the building materials and is ideally suited for hollow block or aircrete.
We were absolutely delighted to attend our first face to face exhibition since Covid hit last month.
It meant we got to showcase some of our brand-new innovations in front of thousands of visitors at the Installer Show which took place at Birmingham’s NEC – the first time the show’s been held there.
The three-day national heating, plumbing and electrical show saw more than 300 exhibitors attend and we were really pleased to be the only fixings manufacturer there.

Relevant for the design and load comparisons are the in-service temperature ranges (= temperature in the substrate during the service life of the anchoring). The long-term temperature is calculated by 0.6 x short-term temperature (e.g. 120 °C short-term temperature ≥ +72 °C long-term temperature).
